IMPORTANT SAFETY CHECKS & PRECAUTIONS

Your Safety

Your safety is of the utmost importance, do not enter the building unless you have been told by a qualified professional that it is okay. If you get confirmation that the structural integrity of the building is safe and that it is safe to go inside, ensure that you wear protective clothing, as soot and smoke can be incredibly harmful.

Environmental Safety

Ensure that the gas, water and electricity are all switched off at the mains. DO NOT touch the electrical mains if they are wet. If you are unsure, then get in contact with your utility providers. It is 100% better safe than sorry. Despite this tragic disaster, it is still your responsibility to secure the property, this should be done as much as possible.

Limit Secondary Damage

Even after the fire has been put out, secondary damage can occur from soot and smoke. If you have been given the all clear and are allowed back into the property, try and retrieve as many important items as possible. It may also be an idea at this stage to take a quick not of items that have been damaged.
